Drum Flaker

Drum flaker

The drum flaker is used to transform a molten product into a solid. The process that takes place is a congealing process, a phase transition.

The product begins to congeal the moment it comes into contact with the cold rotating drum. After one revolution the completely congealed layer is removed from the drum by a knife and reduced into manageable flakes or flocks.

The form and size of the flakes depend on the nature of the product, but also to some extent on the process conditions.

The GMF-Gouda drum flaker concept is well thought out. It has resulted in a number of important and innovative advantages:

drum flaker
  • Robust construction contributes to a uniform flake form and quality with a minimum amount of material;
  • A completely sealed cooling-water circuit rules out the possibility of the product coming into contact with the coolant or that the coolant becomes polluted by the product;
  • A gas or dust tight model can easily be provided for processing poisonous, oxidizing, hygroscopic and bad smelling products;
  • The compact construction requires little floor space;
  • Easy operation and low maintenance.
The drum flaker is among the simplest and most economical ways of congealing liquid products.
