Thermorotor

The Thermorotor is a scraped surface heat exchanger. It is used in the food industry and in the chemical industry. It is used, for example, to heat or cool sticky and/or syrupy products, to pasteurise, to sterilise or to initiate crystallisation from a molten product. These examples give a first impression of the versatility of the Thermorotor.

The Thermorotor is a double-walled, cylindrical body. The process area is on the inside and it is heated or cooled on the outside. In a full-continuous process, the product enters one end of the process area, where it comes into contact with the heated or cooled wall. The product is forced out at the other end. A rotor fitted with scraping knives runs lengthwise through the core of the heat exchanger. The scraping knives have various functions. For example, they help improve the mixing process and help refresh the product film on the heat exchanging surface. The result is increased heat transfer.

The Thermorotor has various features:

  • Perfectly suited for "difficult" products such as highly sticky or viscous media;

  • Fast and simple disassembly of the inner work for cleaning and inspection;

  • Special models for the food and chemical industries;

  • A fully closed heating or cooling circuit prevents the product coming into contact with the medium or the medium being contaminated by the product.

The Thermorotor is a versatile, robust machine.
